COLUMBUS – Columbus police are looking for a man who they say shot his ex-girlfriend’s father during an argument, sending him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Jacob Polk was involved in a domestic incident with his former live-in girlfriend at an apartment complex on Brick Street on the Northeast Side early Wednesday morning when the woman, whose name was not released, called family members to help get Polk from the residence, assault unit Det. Robert Lemmon said.
The woman’s father, Peter Ferguson, arrived to help and, during the argument that followed, Lemmon says Polk, 21, got a rifle and shot Ferguson, 38, once in the abdomen and fled from the scene.
Ferguson was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition was upgraded to stable condition following surgery and is expected to survive, Lemmon said.
Polk is wanted on a charge of felonious assault and Lemmon says he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The investigation continues.
