COLUMBUS – Police say Robert Chenault fatally shot the boyfriend of his estranged wife, then tried to flee with the six-year-old daughter Chenault had with the victim’s girlfriend.

Chenault, 38, whose address was on Appleway Drive on the West Side, was charged with murder after police say he went to the W. Hudson Street apartment of Shaun Hinebaugh and shot him to death, Homicide Unit second shift supervisor Sgt. Stanley Latta said.
Latta says Chenault’s estranged wife was Hinebaugh’s girlfriend and was in the second-floor apartment when the shooting happened at 2:24 p.m. but wan not hurt.
The six-year-old girl who is the daughter of the woman and Chenault was there and Chenault fled on foot with her but was caught by police, Latta said.
Hinebaugh, 33, was taken by Columbus fire personnel to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center emergency room where he was pronounced dead.
This is the 54th homicide in Columbus in 2018.
The investigation continues, Latta said.
