Police: Murder suspect armed and dangerous

COLUMBUS – Columbus police were looking for a 21-year-old South Side man who has been charged with committing the city’s 101st homicide of the year while trying to rob a family member.

UPDATE (10:51 A.M. 10/13): Anthony Dean was arrested on Oct. 12 and taken to the Franklin County Jail

Anthony Dean, whose address was given as Betz Road, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Erick Bellomy inside his home on Higbee Drive South early Thursday morning, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.

Officers called to the home at approximately 1:21 a.m. found Bellomy, 44, inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound, Strayer said. Bellomy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strayer says detectives determined that Bellomy and Dean are related to one another and witnesses told police that Dean was trying to rob Bellomy in the home when the shooting happened.

Strayer says Dean should be considered armed and dangerous.

The investigation continues.
