At approximately 1:35 a.m., Edward Torres, of South Charleston, Ohio, was driving eastbound on Interstate 70 at Hilliard-Rome Road, where the three right hand lanes were closed to vehicular traffic due to construction, when he drove his Honda Odyssey through the construction barrels barricade and onto the closed lanes, Sgt. Brooke Wilson of the Accident Investigation Unit said.

Torres, 30, struck Steve Cook, 59, of Barnesville, who died later at Grant Medical Center, Wilson said.

Wilson says investigators determined that Torres was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was arrested.
