Rodney Wade was found lying in front of a home in the 1300 block of Aberdeen Avenue shortly after 10:00 p.m. by officers responding to a report of a shooting and he died later at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit said.
A charge of murder was filed against Darryl Lewis, 35, whose last known address was the home at 1329 Aberdeen Avenue where Wade was found, and who remained at large Tuesday morning Strayer said.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting was the result of a failed robbery attempt during a suspected drug deal, Strayer said.
Strayer says Lewis should be considered armed and dangerous.
This is the 18th homicide in Columbus in 2019.
