COLUMBUS – A man being sought in connection with the shooting death of a man at a Southwest Side apartment complex is 18 now – and considered armed and dangerous — but was only 17 when he pulled the trigger a little over three days earlier, according to Columbus police.

Michael Lee Meredith was charged on Thursday with one delinquency count of murder in the death of Jared Bentley late Monday night at the Reserve at Parkwick apartment complex near I-270 and Georgesville Road, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.
Bentley, 24, was found lying in the parking lot in the area of Bay Club Circle, suffering from a gunshot wound, after allegedly being shot by Meredith while the two argued, Strayer said.
Bentley tried to drive away from the area after being wounded but only made it a few hundred yards before he got out of the vehicle and collapsed.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or Meredith’s whereabouts is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
