Police: Woman killed by husband in park

COLUMBUS – An elderly Hilliard woman shot to death inside a parked car at Griggs Reservoir became the 132nd homicide victim of the year in Columbus.

Officers were called at 10:57AM, Columbus Police Officers were called to a parking lot in the Griggs Reservoir Park off Riverside Drive, south of the Fishinger Road bridge, at 10:57 a.m. Thursday on a report of a woman slumped over in the driver’s seat of a parked car, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.

The officers found Kathleen Boyuk, 75, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and she was taken by Columbus paramedics to Riverside Hospital where she died about 30 minutes later.

Investigators say Kathleen Boyuk was murdered by her 77-year-old husband, Walter, who was arrested on a murder charge, Marable said.

Very little information was available Friday morning on a fatal shooting at White Castle at W. Broad Street and Wilson Road on the Hilltop at approximately 6:00 a.m. that reportedly left at least one person dead.
