Police: Woman was jaywalking when fatally struck

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police say a 45-year-old man is a “person of interest” in a deadly hit-skip crash on the Northeast Side Thursday night.

Police say a woman whose identity has not been confirmed may have been drunk when she was struck and killed after she ignored a crosswalk signal while running across Morse Road at the Cleveland Avenue intersection at 10:24 p.m.

A 2013 maroon colored Ford Fusion sedan was traveling westbound on Morse Road and had the green light when it entered the intersection, hitting the woman, who was pronounced dead at scene, accident investigators said.

Police say they believe, but could not confirm that the woman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Police say Kenneth L. Dunlap is considered a person of interest in connection with the crash and anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit at 614-645-4767.
