COLUMBUS, Ohio – The National Weather Service says it will send representatives to Cedarville today to survey storm damage and determine if it was a tornado that touched down last night, destroying several houses and farm buildings and trapping seven people inside the wreckage of a home.
Fire crews rescued the seven, which included three children, from the basement of a house that was flattened as strong storms moved through the state Wednesday night, prompting tornado warnings in Franklin and the surrounding counties.
No injuries have been reported, according to the report in the Dayton Daily News.
Flood and flash flood watches remained in effect for much of Thursday for Coshocton, Guernsey, Muskingum and several other eastern and northern Ohio counties. The alerts follow several days of rain, and come a day after a possible tornado hit in central Ohio.
Flood watches have also been issued in southeast Ohio in Athens, Jackson and Morgan counties, among others, and in northern Ohio in Crawford, Marion and Richland counties, among others.
