Post-debate campaigning in Ohio

COLUMBUS – A day after his wife and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump squared off in the first of a series of three head-to-head debates, former President Bill Clinton is in Ohio to campaign.

Clinton is planning to make stops in Toledo and the Cleveland area on Tuesday to encourage people to sign up to vote ahead of the November election between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Trump.

Trump running mate Mike Pence is scheduled to be back in Ohio on Wednesday, attending a rally at Leetonia High School near Youngstown.

Emmy Award-winning actress Debra Messing (Will & Grace) will campaign for Clinton in Columbus, Cincinnati and Monday and Tuesday, promoting Clinton’s economic plan and encouraging voters to register ahead of the Oct. 11 deadline.

The race between Clinton and Trump was neck-and-neck heading into the debate, with a national poll from Quinnipiac University showing Clinton leading Trump 44-43 percent, well within the margin of error.
