COLUMBUS – An 18-year-old Marion-Franklin High School student has been charged with two felonies after police say he took a loaded gun to school.

Waki Bryant was arrested after a school safety and security officer was alerted to someone smoking marijuana in a hallway bathroom by school staff, according to detectives with the Columbus police Gun Crimes Unit.
The officer stopped Bryant, who was carrying a black backpack, outside the bathroom and searched the bag, finding a Hi-Point .380 caliber handgun, a loaded magazine, marijuana and a digital scale inside a black waist pack.
Columbus police were contacted and arrested Bryant on felony charges of conveying a deadly weapon into a school zone and carrying a concealed weapon.
