COLUMBUS (AP) — The Franklin County prosecutor is promising to retry a former vice squad officer charged in the death of a woman he shot while working undercover almost four years ago.
A mistrial was declared earlier this month after jurors were unable to reach a verdict on murder and voluntary manslaughter charges against 58-year-old Andrew Mitchell.
The charges stem from Mitchell’s shooting in August 2018 of 23-year-old Donna Castleberry.
Mitchell has said he acted in self-defense after Castleberry stabbed him in the hand during an undercover prostitution investigation.
Mitchell’s attorney says he’s prepared to defend Mitchell again.
