COLUMBUS – The Clippers continue to trade wins with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, dropping a 7-2 decision Wednesday night.
Columbus has lost three of the last five games against Scranton-WB with the final game of a three-game series scheduled for Thursday night.
Josh Tomlin (1-2) struck out eight hitters over six innings of work, but was shelled for six runs as well, while getting little offensive support.
In spite of banging out 11 hits, the Clippers’ only runs came on back-to-back RBI doubles by Erik Gonzalez and Anthony Gallas. Columbus stranded 11 runners, 10 of them in scoring position.
Already leading 3-1, the RailRiders got two more runs in the fifth and added insurance runs in the sixth and eighth.
