RailRiders 8, Clippers 2

COLUMBUS – Zack Zehner’s solo home run in the fifth inning broke a 2-all tie and started Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on the road to an 8-2 victory over the Clippers Wednesday night at Huntington Park.

Zehner’s homer came off losing pitcher Shao-Ching Chiang (6-7).

After giving up a two-run home run to Ryan Flaherty in the second inning, Brody Koerner (4-1) shut out the Clippers for the rest of his six innings on the mound as Scranton won for the fifth time in the last six games between the leaders of the International League North and West divisions.

Columbus can avoid being swept at home by the RailRiders with a win in the series finale Thursday afternoon.

Gwinnett — the top team in the IL South – arrives in town Friday for a weekend series.
