Records fall in 1/2-Marathon

COLUMBUS – Course records fell and over $1 million was raised for Nationwide Children’s Hospital during the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon and ½-Marathon Sunday

A field of 19,000 participants braved near-freezing temperatures to run the courses.

Kimutai Cheruiyot and Susan Jerotich, both from Kenya, event records in the men’s and women’s half-marathon. Cheruiyot finished in 1:02:45 and Jerotich in 1:11:50

Six out of the top 10 female and male marathon finalists hailed from Ohio

Julius Koskei, of Kenya, won the marathon’s men’s division with a time of 2:16:46 and countrywoman Loice Kangogo was the top women’s finisher at 2:41:44. Patrick Monahan, of Ireland, won the wheelchair division at 1:36:32.

The event raised more than $1.1 million for a total of more than $4.5 million raised since the partnership between the event and the hospital began.
