PAWTUCKET – The Clippers opened a series in Pawtucket with a 3-2 loss Thursday night at McCoy Stadium.
The Red Sox scored all three of their runs in the first two innings a trio of pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts, Marcus Walden (10-4) picking up the win.
The Clippers scored on a Nellie Rodriguez RBI single in the fourth and a solo home run by Adam Moore in the ninth.
Adam Plutko (5-12) took the loss for Columbus.
The four-game series continues Friday at 7:05 p.m.
