Red Sox 4, Clippers 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After waiting out two rain delays, the Clippers fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 4-1 on Monday night.

Rain delayed the start of the game one hour and 11 minutes and the game was delayed again by 46 minutes after the fifth. Columbus couldn’t muster much offense as the PawSox tied the series at one.

Matt Barnes (4-6) allowed just one run on five hits for the win. Kyle Davies (4-7) allowed a pair of runs but never pitched with the lead.

The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead on an RBI single by Will Middlebrooks in the fifth inning.

The Clippers got the tying run to the plate twice after the second rain delay, but never got a run in.

Game three of the series starts at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
