Red Sox 5, Clippers 3

COLUMBUS – The Red Sox rallied with four runs in the eighth inning to beat the Clippers 5-3 Thursday, preventing Columbus from sweeping the three-game series at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket.

The Clippers took a 3-1 lead by scoring three runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by Trayce Thomson’s two-run homer, but Pawtucket came back with four runs in the eighth, two of them on Sam Travis’s two-out pinch-hit single, which brought two runs in.

Chih-Wei Hu (1-3) pitched into the eighth but was responsible for the runners who scored tying and go-ahead runs.

Trevor Kelley (3-2) got the win in relief for Pawtucket.

The Clippers travel to Syracuse for a three-game series beginning Friday.
