COLUMBUS – The Clippers fell behind early and lost the opening game of a three-game series in Pawtucket to the Red Sox, 6-3, Tuesday night.
The Red Sox jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first four innings before Columbus got on the scoreboard.
William Cuevas (7-5), who notched nine strikeouts, and two relievers kept them in check the rest of the way.
Stephen Fife (4-6) took the loss for Columbus.
The two teams play the second game of the series at McCoy Stadium Wednesday night.
