With two outs, Rosales lined a William Cuevas pitch off the left field wall and crossed the plate standing up for a 2-run home run.
Cuevas and three other pitchers clamped down on the Clippers hitters after that, Kyle Marting (1-1) pitching two innings to get the win while Jack Leathersich (0-2) took the loss for Columbus.
The defeat was the Clippers’ second loss in their first four home games of the season.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Tuesday night.
