COLUMBUS (AP) — Kennys Vargas hit an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Rochester Red Wings to a 4-3 win over the Clippers on Wednesday.
Mitch Garver scored the go-ahead run on the single after he reached base with a double.
Rochester starter David Hurlbut struck out four while allowing one run and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. Alex Wimmers (5-3) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Kyle Crockett (5-4) took the loss in the International League game.
Niko Goodrum doubled and singled twice, scoring two runs in the win.
For the Clippers, Tyler Naquin doubled twice and singled, driving home two runs.
With the win, Rochester improved to 4-1 against Columbus this season.
