COLUMBUS – A dominating performance by Rochester starter Stephen Gonsalves and two relievers sent the Clippers to an 8-0 loss at Huntington Park Tuesday night.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak.
Gonsalves (9-3) struck out five hitters while giving up only three hits in six shutout innings.
In the top of the fifth, Clippers starter Ryan Merritt (1-2) made way for Luke Eubank who immediately surrendered a three-run homer to Byron Buxton who knocked in a run and scored another in the eighth inning.
The two teams play the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday afternoon.
