MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis starter Jake Woodford got just enough help to lead the Redbirds to a 4-2 win over the Clippers at AutoZone Park Friday night.
Brendon Donovan scored the go-ahead run on Nolan Gorman’s sacrifice fly to break a 2-all tie in the third inning.
Woodford (2-3) struck out five hitters over six innings while allowing two runs and a pair of relievers kept the Clippers under control down the stretch.
Brad Peacock (0-4) took the loss for Columbus despite throwing seven strikeouts.
Oscar Gonzalez hit a solo home run for the Clippers.
