CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) – Kris Negron hit his first career home run, and All-Star Todd Frazier added a two-run shot as the Reds rolled into the break with a 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
The Reds went 8-3 on their 11-game home stand against Central Division-opponents Milwaukee, the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh.
The win leaves Cincinnati a game and a half behind the Brewers and a half game behind St. Louis in the division. The Reds lead the Pirates by two games.
Negron, who was called up from AAA Louisville on Thursday for his first appearance in the majors since playing four games in 2012, celebrated his first major league start with a three-run, opposite-field homer to right off of Francisco Liriano in the second inning. The RBIs were also the first of his career, and the hit was his second.
Frazier lined a drive just inside the right-field foul pole on the first pitch from Vance Worley in the sixth.
