Reports: Grenade found at Marion fire scene

MARION, Ohio – Firefighters were reportedly going door to door to evacuate neighbors from the area around a home where a man was killed in a fire early Tuesday morning after investigators said they found a hand grenade inside.

According to WBNS 10-TV, the State Fire Marshal and the Columbus Fire Bomb Squad were called to the scene to investigate the blaze and the grenade.

Fire investigators say the blaze broke out around 1:15 Tuesday morning in Marion. Officials say one man died in the fire. His name wasn’t immediately released.

The man’s 71-year-old grandmother escaped through the window of her first-floor bedroom and ran to a neighbor’s home for help, according to the television station.

Fire crews continued to investigate but were calling the fire suspicious.
