Reward offered in March 26 murder

COLUMBUS – CrimeStoppers of Central Ohio is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for the shooting death of a 54-year-old man last month.

Witnesses say Earl Simmons had tried to break up a fight in front of a home on Schenley Drive on the Northeast Side just before 8:30 p.m. on March 26.

The organization is hosting a fundraising Shredding Day Saturday, May 1, from 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at 775 Taylor Road in Gahanna. For a minimum donation of $10, visitors can drop off up to five boxes of paper (no cardboard) and the first 300 cars get an $18 voucher from Moo Moo Car Wash.

Several weapons were fired and one of the bullets struck Simmons, who died later at Grant Medical Center, the 45th homicide victim of 2021 in Columbus.
