RG3: “I have a massive chip on my shoulder”

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Robert Griffin III says that while a few players decided to leave the Browns this offseason, the former Washington quarterback picked Cleveland as his new football home.

Griffin said he had opportunities to sign with other organizations, but wanted to play for the Browns and their new head coach Hue Jackson. The Browns lost several starters in free agency.

RG3 said Wednesday he made some mistakes in Washington and that he has “a massive chip” on his shoulder.

Jackson, labeled a QB guru during his years coaching in the NFL, Browns may still consider taking a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft despite Griffin’s arrival.

Griffin says the Browns selecting a quarterback high in the draft will not affect his work ethic or desire to compete for the starting job.

Jackson also indicated that the Browns have no immediate plans to trade or release veteran quarterback Josh McCown.
