COLUMBUS – Fresh off a victory at the Masters, which marked his comeback from back surgery and provided the entire golf industry with a jump-start, five-time Memorial Tournament winner Tiger Woods confirmed Thursday that he would play in the event next week.

The 44th edition of the Memorial Tournament is scheduled for May 27-June 2 at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Fan favorite Rickie Fowler also confirmed his appearance Thursday, joining a field that already included Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott.
Woods will be making his 17th appearance in the tournament, where he ranks No. 1 in total earnings with $5,136,605.
Woods, 43, became the second-oldest winner at Augusta National last month and currently boasts 81 total victories on the PGA Tour, second behind Sam Snead, who had 82.
