COLUMBUS— Police say a man suspected of robbing a person outside a South Side bank died after shooting himself while police closed in on him in Schiller Park.
Police responded to reports of a robbery outside the Chase Bank branch at 833 S. High Street at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers tracked David Lee Bush, 40, to the park in German Village where they say he pulled out a handgun and shot himself before they could approach.
He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Bush had no local criminal record.
