Robbery suspect shot by accomplice

COLUMBUS – Police say they are looking for a man who fatally shot his partner in crime early Monday morning.

Police say they are on the lookout for Juwaun Markell Pitts, 20, in connection with the shooting death of Brandon Lee Pollard during a home invasion robbery.

Officers called to the 2900 block of Howey Road on the Northeast Side on a report of gunshots just before 2:15 a.m. Monday found Pollard, 21, critically injured from an apparent gunshot wound, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man found shot on the lawn of a Far East Side home Sunday night died Monday, raising the total number of homicides in Columbus in 2016 to three.

Columbus fire personnel dispatched to the 5800 block of Riverton Road just before 8:30 Sunday night to check on a report of an unconscious man on the lawn of a home found Leonid Kaplan suffering from a gunshot wound, according to homicide investigators.

Kaplan, 51 was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he died just before 6:00 a.m. Monday, police said.
