ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Clippers lost to the St. Paul Saints 5-1 Friday night at CHS Field.
Louie Varland (1-0) struck out eight hitters in 5 1/3 shutout innings.
Clippers starter Hunter Gaddis (1-1) allowed only four hits in five innings but gave up four runs in the fourth inning, on a two-run double to Roy Morales and a two-run homer by Mark Contreras.
