Saints 9, Clippers 2

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Drew Maggi’s two-run home run in the eighth inning broke a 7-7 tie and led the St. Paul Saints to a 9-8 victory over the Clippers in a back-and-forth game Wednesday.

After the Saints rallied to take a 3-1 lead, the Clippers scored three runs in the fourth on base hits by Ryan Lavarnway and Tyler Krieger to go ahead, 4-3.

After St. Paul tied the score again, Gabirel Arias hit a solo home run in the fifth to put the Clippers back on top and Krieger’s two-run blast widened the lead to 7-4 before solo homers by Keon Broxton, Jose Miranda and Brent Rooker evened the score again in the seventh, setting the stage for Maggi’s game-winning shot.
