School bomb threats deemed not credible

Fairfield Co. Sheriff’s Office

COLUMBUS – Authorities have determined that threats phoned in to schools and businesses in central Ohio early Monday came from several states away and were not credible.

An unidentified man contacted the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Sunday and made several bomb threats aimed at targets in and around Canal Winchester, Sheriff Alex Lape said.

Additional threats made Monday targeted the Canal Winchester City School District and Violet Township School District, prompting school officials to cancel classes.

The calls were linked to a single suspect Lape says lived near the West Coast and the threats were deemed “non-credible.”
