School bus driver drunk

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Columbus City Schools bus driver is suspended after being arrested for driving drunk with kids on her bus.

Columbus police say Tia Denton, 51, is charged with drunk driving, child endangering and having an open container after being up to two hours late dropping off Southwood Elementary School students, missing stops and driving erratically.

Police say they received a report that a Columbus City Schools bus was driving erratically in the area of E. Woodrow Avenue and Lockbourne Road just after 5:30 a.m. District officials called police to tell them the same bus was late dropping off students.

The bus was located using GPS and was seen driving around and not stopping at scheduled stops and officers determined Denton was intoxicated, investigators said.

A nine-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were on the bus when it was stopped, police said.
