Second murder on East Side street

COLUMBUS – A Warren man is in jail on charges in connection with a homicide on an East Side street that has seen two murders in four days.

Quantae Marques Hill, whose address was given as Choctaw Street SW in Warren, was arrested shortly after Lawrence White was gunned down in the driveway of a home in the 4100 block of Larry Place, the same block where a 31-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon, though investigators say there is no evidence to indicate the two crimes are related, Homicide Unit Sgt. Dave Sicilian said.

Officers and medics found White, 26, lying in the driveway of the duplex at 4113 Larry Place at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, suffering from gunshot wounds, detectives said. He died later at Grant Medical Center.

Sicilian says White was apparently visiting a relative and was standing in the driveway when Hill, 25, stepped out from between two buildings, confronted him and opened fire with a handgun.

Hill drove away in a vehicle witnesses described as a dark colored “Mini Hummer,” Sicilian said.

Officers spotted the vehicle and stopped Hill on Nelson Road, south of E. Main Street, where Sicilian says he was identified by a witnesses and taken into custody.

This is the 42nd Homicide in Columbus in 2016.
