COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s unemployment rate was down slightly to 5.6 percent for September.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services released last month’s unemployment rate figure Friday morning.
Employers added 6,000 jobs over the month, according to a business survey by the U.S. Department of Labor and the state, while the number of unemployed workers fell by 5,000 in September to 319,000, the department reported.
August’s report showed the state’s unemployment rate at 5.7 percent, identical to July’s number.
Last year’s September unemployment rate was 7.4 percent.
