HILLIARD – Authorities say a 16-year-old Hilliard Davidson High School student has been arrested on suspicion of plotting a school shooting.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien and Hilliard police Chief Robert Fisher announced a charge Tuesday of conspiracy to commit murder filed against John Staley III, who was arrested Friday and is being held at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
A hearing was scheduled later this month for a judge to decide whether to move the case to adult court.
O’Brien says other students are being interviewed, but no additional arrests have been made.
O’Brien said a motive hasn’t been identified.
Staley was suspended last month after another student alerted school officials with concerns about the alleged plot.
On Sept. 21, Hilliard police say a concerned student approached school resource Officer Rich Quigley about a possible threat, which the student student described as a “joke.” Police and school district staff began investigating and turned up what they call “an elaborate written plan to harm students and faculty.”
O’Brien’s office, the FBI, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Hilliard City Schools collaborated on the investigation.
