COLUMBUS – Authorities believe a body pulled from the Scioto River in southern Franklin County Sunday afternoon is that of a man who jumped from a bridge seven miles upstream, near downtown Columbus, almost two weeks earlier.
Sheriff’s Office detectives believe the body found by a boater at about 4:00 p.m. Sunday near the Scioto Canoe Livery on W. London-Groveport Road is that of Damon Farmer, Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
Witnesses reported seeing a man matching the description of Farmer, 40, jump from the Greenlawn Avenue bridge over the Scioto on May 27, but Columbus police and fire personnel searched the water in the area without locating a body, Baldwin said.
Detectives believe jumped into the river and foul play is not suspected, but Baldwin says the official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
