Shooting leaves man dead

COLUMBUS – Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting on the Northeast Side last month.

UPDATE 2/7/23 6:32 a.m.: This article has been updated with information about the arrest of a suspect in this incident.

Columbus police officers dispatched to the 6100 block of Cleveland Avenue on a reported shooting at 11:00 p.m. on Jan. 23 found Rudy Tirado-Gonzalez, 51, suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt. Michael Smith of the Homicide Unit said.

The officers rendered first aid and Columbus paramedics took the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:38 p.m.

Armando Flores, 25, was charged with murder and arrested by Columbus SWAT officers in Whitehall on Feb. 3, Smith said.

This incident remains under investigation.
