Shooting victim dies after a week in the hospital

COLUMBUS – A man who was one of the victims of a double shooting outside an East Side market last week has died, the 34th homicide victim of 2021 in Columbus.

Marsean Kato, 20, was found with multiple gunshots wounds by officers responding to a shooting at the Eagle Fuels Market, 3851 Livingston Avenue, early on the morning of Feb. 24 and was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where he died Tuesday afternoon, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicid4e Unit said.

Davon Johnson, 19, was also struck by gunfire and transported himself to another hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Shimberg says investigators are looking for another vehicle that was involved in this incident and are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
