COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 50-year-old man died about six hours after being shot on the Northeast Side Tuesday morning, becoming the 37th homicide victim of the year in Columbus, police said.

Officers responding to a reported shooting at 1268 E. 23rd Avenue just after 3:00 a.m. found David Reed the man in front of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso, Homicide Unit detectives said.
Reed, 50, was transported to the OSU Medical Center in critical condition. Police say he died at 9:46 a.m.
