Slain officer’s funeral

CINCINNATI (AP) – Authorities expect a slain Cincinnati police officer’s funeral and procession to draw thousands of people, including hundreds of police officers from around the country.

The funeral for Officer Sonny Kim was scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Friday followed by a procession to a cemetery in the Cincinnati suburb of Montgomery and a private burial service.

Police say the 27-year veteran was killed June 19 by an armed suspect who had made 911 calls and was seeking “suicide by cop.” The suspect was killed by police.

The public has been urged to wear blue-colored clothing on Friday and to line the route of the funeral procession.

Members of the public were able to pay their respects to Kim at a visitation Thursday at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.
