COLUMBUS – Streets and highways were still slippery in spots, schools were closed or delayed and snow emergencies remained in effect for most of central Ohio Tuesday morning in the wake of a dangerous winter storm that whipped the eastern U.S. with significant snowfall and blustery winds.
Level 1 snow emergencies for Franklin, Delaware and Union counties were canceled early Tuesday morning but remained in effect for Fairfield, Licking and and Pickaway counties due to roadways that were icy and hazardous, with blowing and drifting snow.
Winter driving tips:
- Slow down
- Accelerate and decelerate slowly
- Allow 5-6 seconds of following distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you
- Never use cruise control
- Don’t panic
