COLUMBUS – Police say there were family members inside Linda Cowans’ South Linden home when she was shot but no one was able to give investigators any information about who pulled the trigger.
Officers investigating a reported shooting in the 1200 block of E. 17th Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. found Cowans,61, lying on the floor, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Homicide Unit Sgt. J.R. Strayer said.
She was taken by Columbus paramedics to Grant Medical Center where she died at 11:32 p.m., Strayer said.
Strayer says that, although other family members inside the residence heard the shots, they were in other areas of the house and unable to give any account of the suspect.
The investigation continues.
This is the 74th homicide of the year in Columbus.
