South Outberbelt reopening

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Drivers on the South Outerbelt may not know what to do with all that space when they see the new eight-lane freeway that opens Sunday morning.

By 6:00 a.m., weather permitting, all the lanes of eastbound I-270 between I-71 and U.S. 23 will be open. I-270 will be four lanes in each direction and the ramp from U.S. 23 south to I-270 east will reopen after being closed for a year.

In order to open the eastbound lanes, the Ohio Department of Transportation says some ramps will have to be closed and lanes restricted overnight Saturday:

6:30 p.m. – I-270 east will be reduced to one lane between US 23 and I-71.

The following ramps will also close:
I-71 north and south to I-270 east. Detour: I-71 north or south to I-270 west to US 62 to I-270 east
US 23 north and south to I-270 east. Detour: US 23 north or south to I-270 west to US 62 to I-270 east
I-270 east to US 23 north and south Detour: I-270 east to Alum Creek Drive to I-270 west to US 23 north or south

All lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen by 6:00 .m. Sunday.
