Speith, Day join Memorial field

DUBLIN – The additions of four additional players to the field for the 46th Memorial Tournament means the event will feature the top 10 players in FedEx Cup points.

Three-time major champion Jordan Spieth, former PGA Championship winner Jason Day, 2019 Memorial winner Patrick Cantlay and rising star Viktor Hovland, who is third in the points standings, committed Wednesday to compete in the event hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

The four joins FedExCup point leader Bryson DeChambeau, No. 2 Justin Thomas, No. 4 Xander Schauffele and No. 5 Sam Burns. Stewart Cink, Cameron Smith, Cantlay, Spieth and Hideki Matsuyama make up the rest of the top 10 and will all participate in the tournament June 3-6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Practice rounds begin Monday with the Nationwide Invitational Pro-Am and Honoree Ceremony Wednesday.

The four-mile run/walk that starts on Memorial Drive and ends at Muirfield Village Golf Club is a benefitting the alliance between Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
