The ride has undergone upgrades over the last several months, including the replacement of all 95 of the chairs on the overhead sky ride, Department of Agriculture communications director Shelby Croft said.
Ride safety and maintenance at the fair have been in the spotlight since a 2017 accident killed an 18-year-old Grove City man. A 19-year-old woman died of injuries suffered in the accident over a year later.
Survivors of the accident are suing the makers of the Fire Ball, claiming the company knew the ride was weakened by corrosion and unsafe and concealed the fact.
The 2019 Ohio State Fair runs from July 24 through August 4.
