COLUMBUS – The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is reaching record highs in several U.S. states, including Ohio.
UPDATE 11/4/20 2:19 p.m. with new information on Ohio COVID-19 cases

There are currently 1,982 (new number) Ohioans hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of 186 patients over Monday and a 7.5% increase since July. COVID-19 patients occupy less than 10٪ of the state’s hospital beds.
While daily infections are rising in all but three states, the surge is most pronounced in the Midwest and Southwest.
Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Colorado and New Mexico reported record hospitalizations this week. Nebraska’s largest hospitals started limiting elective surgeries and looked to bring in nurses from other states.
Officials in Iowa and Missouri warned bed capacity could soon be overwhelmed.
Ohio set a record for the number of new daily cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday with 4,229, followed by another 4,071 on Wednesday for a total of 230,209 with 5,428 deaths and 19,801 hospitalizations.
