Still idle, OSU 6th in AP Top 25

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes remained at No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll, despite still not having played a game during the 2020 regular season.

Ohio State’s streak of 134 weeks in the Top 25 is the second-longest active streak in the nation. Only Alabama has been there longer with 201 weeks in the poll.

But the Buckeyes’ standing comes with an asterisk. They were ineligible to be ranked in the first two regular-season polls of this season because the Big Ten had postponed its football season.

When the Big Ten and other conferences reversed course and decided to play, those teams became eligible again and the Buckeyes were back.

Despite there being no Big Ten Conference games scheduled until the weekend of Oct. 23-24, the conference boasts five teams in the poll.

In addition to Ohio State, Penn State is No. 9, Wisconsin is 16th, Michigan is No. 20 and Minnesota returns to the poll at No. 25.

Clemson, Alabama and Georgia remained at the top of the poll, followed by Florida and Notre Dame.
