Storm Chasers 8, Clippers 7

COLUMBUS – Logan Porter hit a tie-breaking home run in the ninth inning and the Omaha Storm Chasers edged the Clippers 8-7 in a back-and-forth game Friday night at Huntington Park.

Will Brennan had tied the score in the seventh with a double to left field that scored Mitchell Tolman.

Helped by Brent Rooker’s three-run homer in the first, the Storm Chasers jumped out to a 5-2 lead but the Clippers scored four runs in the fifth to go up 6-5.

The narrow lead held up until the eighth when Porter scored the tying run on Clay Dungan’s single and Ivan Castillo came home with the go-ahead run when a Kevin Kelly pitch got away from Columbus catcher David Fry.

Ian Hamilton (2-6) replaced Kelly on the mound and gave up Porter’s homer.

Wyatt Mills (2-1) got the win for Omaha and Andrés Nunez struck out the side in the ninth to earn his seventh save of the season.
